The Grand Floridian - Friday, February 16th

Today, Linda and I drove onto the Disney property to have lunch at her favorite restaurant, The Grand Floridian. It certainly was a beautiful facility and our salads and quiche were delicious. One dessert sounded more delectable than the next, but we settled on sharing a slice of cookies and cream layer cake with chocolate ganache and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which tasted fresh-churned. It was worth every calorie! 






Steve and Linda came to my apartment this evening and we polished off the leftovers from last nights dinner, also at "my place." Tonight, we played a few hearty rounds of Rummy 500, and then decided to call it a night.

    Love that you enjoyed my favorite place. Of course we will need a repeat of that cake in the future!😊
    Maybe some year you can come for the Easter Egg display or even before Christmas Gingerbread House and Christmas tree display.
    Either way we have to go back.
    The Cinderella carriage sighting was the perfect ending to the day.

Pretty Palm Coast

Yesterday marked 7 months since my beloved passed away. It's sometimes difficult to grasp that time keeps marching on and that the world keeps right on turning. My friend Linda gifted me this lovely remembrance, so Brian is traveling with me, not only in my heart, but in my car. Today I drove 225 miles through Georgia and into Florida, to my aunt Jackie & Uncle Ed's house in Palm Coast. The rest stops along the way had some fun displays. Anyone who knows me is aware of my involvement with the sea turtle protection program on Oak Island, so of course I had to capture this loggerhead sculpture. Ed & Jackie had a nice welcome for me & Brody. After lunch, Jackie and I walked around the neighborhood. Hooray for Hardeeville, SC

Today, my Florida adventure began. But first, an eye exam. I suppose that's a good idea, since I need my eyes for an extensive loop around that state. The good news is that my vision has not changed much, which means I still can't see a danged thing without my eye glasses. The car was pretty much packed last night, so today, I just had to nab the cat and stuff him into his carrier. Once buckled in, we left the house and he only meowed for 10 minutes, just long enough for him to realize I wasn't taking him to the vet. Then he relaxed and slept for most of the ride.  I've decided that a five-hour drive is quite enough in one stint. Traffic was surprisingly light for the most part. I crossed over Rt. 17 and drove through the "green swamp" in Supply, NC. I was the only car on the road, which was a bit unsettling, since the green swamp is gigantic, goes on for miles, and has been rumored to contain the body of Jimmy Hoffa.  Two comfort calls allowed me to stretch m
