Hooray for Hardeeville, SC
Today, my Florida adventure began. But first, an eye exam. I suppose that's a good idea, since I need my eyes for an extensive loop around that state. The good news is that my vision has not changed much, which means I still can't see a danged thing without my eye glasses.
The car was pretty much packed last night, so today, I just had to nab the cat and stuff him into his carrier. Once buckled in, we left the house and he only meowed for 10 minutes, just long enough for him to realize I wasn't taking him to the vet. Then he relaxed and slept for most of the ride.
I've decided that a five-hour drive is quite enough in one stint. Traffic was surprisingly light for the most part. I crossed over Rt. 17 and drove through the "green swamp" in Supply, NC. I was the only car on the road, which was a bit unsettling, since the green swamp is gigantic, goes on for miles, and has been rumored to contain the body of Jimmy Hoffa.
Two comfort calls allowed me to stretch my legs and make my bladder gladder. With 300 miles under my belt, I was ready for some respite. The Holiday Inn Express in Hardeeville is positioned behind a gas station, which featured a Subway. So, I tanked up the car, checked in, got Brody settled with some food, water and necessities and then walked to Subway for a toasted half sub, with meatballs and mozzarella cheese. That hit the spot.
Tonight I'll relax and enjoy some PBS, especially my favorite Tuesday night show, "Finding Your Roots" with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. I am fascinated by the comprehensive genealogy roots their researchers uncover.
I've officially blogged for the first time ever. It should be clear sailing from here on out. Ha!
Great start to your fun journey!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you could guess what fast food place has the most outlets.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a good start. Naples is quite a drive from your place so you might as well take your time.
Cheers
I’m glad Brody adjusted well! Glad to see you’re enjoying yourself!
